How to Upload/Post Images
Now I’m going to tell you how upload and post images to the website. These images aren’t the photos that you want in the photo gallery, but images that compliment your post and adds a bit of color. And example of a previous post:
So there’s an an example of how images are added to posts. This is actually very easy to do, so this shouldn’t take very long.
Alright, the easiest way to post an image is posting one from another website that you found. [Note: Some websites don't like linking to pictures hosted on their site, it uses their bandwidth, so they block this activity. Your image has a possibility of not showing up on your post. I'll explain how to get by this in a minute.] You can do this is while in a post click the insert image button. It should look like this:
. When click that button in your post you should seen a box pop-up and give you a set of options:
-
Image URL: This is where you will enter the web address of the location for the image you found.
-
Image Description: This is a short description of the image you are posting. ie the image above’s description is “Example Post”, you’ll see this when you move your mouse over the image and pause.
-
Alignment: This is how the text near your image will be aligned to the image. Most common items will be “Left” and “Right”.
-
Dimensions: This is the size of the image. (If you don’t know it, just leave it, you can fix it later.)
-
Border: This allows you to put a simple line border around your image. (commonly left blank)
-
Vertical Space: This is how much space is on top and bottom of your image.
-
Horizontal Space: This is how much space is on the left and right side of your image.
-
Class: Specific image class/style (Advanced use only).
So that’s the details, here’s an example of how to insert an image to a post:
Wordpress Image Insert from Trae Blain on Vimeo.
(ie this was created with version 2.5 of Wordpress. At this time it will look a little different but will change to match soon.)
As you can see the “Left” alignment places the image to the left and wraps the text around the right side of the image. The “Right” alignment does the converse of that.
The other way to insert an image [and more reliable] is to upload an image to the website and post it then. This way you aren’t worrying about using someone else’s bandwidth. This way is similar to before [especially when editing] but you have to upload the image first.
Now that you know how to insert an image from another site into the website then you’ll be able to do the second option easily. When you find an image you want to post, if you right click on that image and select “Save Image As…” or “Save Picture As..” you will download it to your computer. Now to place it on the website you need to upload it before you can put it in your post.
Fortunately, Wordpress has an easy image uploader. For older versions it is right under the post text area. For version 2.5, it’s a button right above the toolbar of the post text area. Uploading is pretty straight forward, upload the image then select Add it to Post and you are on your way.
Once again, to guide you there. I’ve created a video to help you see how it’s done. This video uses the latest version of Wordpress, which I’ll be updating soon.

Hope that helps you out and Happy Posting!
