The Guide
The next page should look similar to this. Click the image to see a larger view. This is the heart of the posts. The main pieces are Title, Post, Tags, and Categories. You will not need to worry about the rest.
Now I will try to coach you through a sample post so that you’ll have a general understanding of the functionality of the site.
Title
The title is self-explanitory. It’s kind of what you would place in the subject bar of an email. It’s a quick one line/few word description of your post. Be witty if you like. Just keep it simple.
Post
Post is the meat of the writing. Here you will put everything you would like to say. There are some simple formating features that you can look into, and those will be explained in the Quicktags and Upload Image sections.
Categories
Categories are like filing cabinets for your posts. It helps place things in a sort of order. This way if you search for a previous post you might find it faster by browsing to that post’s category.
You can place posts in multiple categories if what you are writing about fits in multiple places. Just check the multiple entries. Also, if your post doesn’t fit into any of these posts you can add a Category by moving to the Manage section of the site. This will be explain in that section of the guide.
Save vs Publish

The save buttons are pretty self-explanatory. There are two ways to manage your posts, simply saving (will keep it as a Draft) or Publish.
Save and Continue Editing and Save
These two buttons do the same thing. One simply will keep you in the editing page. Wordpress will auto save the posts, but it is good practice to hit this save button a few times if you have a large post.
Publish
Publishing is what you do when your post is ready for the main site.
Quicktags
Quicktags are simple ways of formatting your post.
These are done in the same way that Word formats your text. Bold, Italics, Strikethrough are your first options.

There is also blockquoting. As seen here:
This is just a hint at what you can post under a blockquote. You can have as much information here as you need, but you will have to stop sometime.
There’s also alignment, left align.
Right Align
Centered
Also, you can add links like this. Just highlight the text you want to have the link and press the chain link icon. Enter the Link then press Insert. And you are done.
Image insertion is explained in another guide.
The next icon is the More icon. This allows you to have the “Read the rest of this entry…” at points in your post. Everything about this More line will be on the front page, everything above and below will be on the posts single page (the page with the comments).
Spell check…of course…then the help button.
Finally there’s the link for more options in the quick tags. These will be explained in another post.
The G2 Button is for inserting images from the gallery, I’ll also have a post later on this.
